The Church

Like ‘The Killing Moon’ and ‘Head Over Heels’, ‘Under The Milky Way’ features on the soundtrack of Donnie Darko. Unlike those tracks, I hadn’t heard The Church’s single a thousand times before I saw the movie. Originally off their 1988 album Starfish, the studio version sounds a little flat compared to this revision off their 2005 album El Momento Descuidado. The acoustic treatment adds a tone that reminds me of early 1990s R.E.M.
