9 of the best – house music sounds of the noughties

Hi there… a bonus compilation for lovers of house music. Perhaps no one was ever going to reach the high bar set by The Avalanches and Daft Punk or perhaps because pervasive earworms from the likes of Darude and Zombie Nation had spoiled global dance floors… whatever the reason, some consider the 2000s a lost decade for house music. On review, I am not so sure, albeit the the decade was definitely front-ended. In chronological order, see below my favourite nuggets:

Alan Braxe & Fred Falke – Intro (2000)

The Avalanches – Since I Left You (2000)

Röyksopp ‎- Remind Me (2001)

Rui Da Silva feat. Cassandra – Touch Me (2001)

Daft Punk – Digital Love (2001)

Sébastien Tellier – La Ritournelle (2004)

Theo Parrish – Falling Up (Carl Craig Remix) (2005)

Lindstrøm – I Feel Space (2005)

Air France – Collapsing At Your Doorstep (2008)

###

Honourable mentions also go to: Otto for ‘Bob (Edu K Remix)‘ (2000); Planet Funk ‎for ‘Chase The Sun‘ (2000); Laurent Garnier ‎for ‘The Man With The Red Face‘ (2000); Fatboy Slim for ‘Sunset (Bird Of Prey)‘ (2000); Golden Boy feat. Miss Kittin for ‘Rippin Kittin‘ (2001); Daft Punk for ‘Veridis Quo‘ (2001); The Other People Place for ‘Let Me Be Me‘ (2001) and ‘Sorrow & A Cup of Joe‘ (2002); Layo & Bushwacka for ‘Love Story‘ (2002); Together ‎for ‘So Much Love To Give‘ (2002); Junior Senior for ‘Move Your Feet‘ (2003); Fatima Yamaha for ‘What’s a Girl Got to Do‘ (2004); Mathew Jonson for ‘Marionette’ (2004); and Zomby for ‘Euphoria‘ (2008).

PS. for lovers of all things Boards of Canada, Caribou, M83, Fischerspoon, LCD Soundsystem, Burial, Dntel, The Avalanches and Trentemøller, so much of their work falls too far on the side of electronica to be house music, which was another development that detracted from the genre in the 2000s.
