Before they fell apart in 1968, The Electric Prunes were a well-connected underground pysch rock act. Having already provided them with success on single ‘I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)’, the songwriting duo Nancie Mantz and Annette Tucker penned much of the band’s self-titled debut album. One of the songs, ‘Onie’, sounds like it might have been lifted off a VU album. The Velvet Underground & Nico had been released a few months earlier.
