Jamie xx feat. Romy – Loud Places (2015)

Jamie xx

Like Caribou’s Dan Snaith, Jamie Smith is shaped by his experiences a DJ. As Jamie xx, he’s recently released his debut solo album In Colour. The pressing features the single ‘Lost Places’. The song sounds like a section of a club set. Throw in the Idris muhammed sample, the dance rhythm, the skateboards … I am not sure he has reached such heights before.

Jamie xx and Gil Scott-Heron – I’ll Take Care of U (2011)

YouTubeAmazoniTunes – Discogs

In 2011, Jamie Smith of The xx was given the opportunity to remix Scott-Heron’s comeback long player ‘I’m New Here’ from the year before. However, ‘I’ll Take Care of You’ reveals that these unlikely bedfellows are too far apart – steel drums and magical euphoria ensues.
