Nu-old skool – now that’s a subgenre. Chicago-based duo The Cool Kids released their EP The Bake Sale on XL Recordings in the summer of 2008. By which time, Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks’ had already won over many fans mixing old skool hip hop beats with a modern conviction. I first heard ‘Bassment Party’ on an episode of the HBO series Entourage. Like the series, it stuck. Have a great weekend.
