George Clinton and Sly Stone have some history. Before he became THE Dr. Funkenstein, Clinton signed for Sly’s short-lived Stone Flower label. From meagre beginnings as a partnership, the latter part of Stone’s career featured many returned favours. The latest is ‘In Da Kar’ which was originally released on Funkadelic’s 2014 album First Ya Gotta Shake the Gate. This year, house music outfit Soul Clap released an EP collaboration with the two legends to create this version. The song is itself a derivative of a previous Funkadelic track, ‘Oil Spill’. “Pipe it, pump it, truck it and fuck it”, so to speak.
