The Very Best

Mandela’s long walk to freedom has been very musical at times. But a tribute was never going to be an easy call for me. That was until Vampire Weekend bonded over a shared love of punk rock and African music. They’ve it easier for bands such as The Very Best to have currency with these ears. The Very Best is a collaboration between London duo, Radioclit, and Esau Mwamwaya, a singer from Malawi. On ‘Warm Heart Of Africa’, the band even had help from VW’s frontman himself – Ezra Koenig features as vocalist (and uncomfortable dancer) . It’s not the summer, but the news about Mandela and the need for a little sun makes this most apt. Have a great week.
