Before I get drawn into the lure of festive tunes and best-of-year thoughts, I kick the week off with a couple of ‘old skool’ classics. Chicago House was craving for a diva and they got one in 1987 with this classic anthem from Ralphi Rosario. Xaviera Gold’s sassy proclamation that “You Used To Hold Me”, that 808 synth sequence and Rosario’s arrangements would be incredibly influential. Dare I say timeless? Not quite, but almost perfection nonetheless.
