Kishi Bashi – Manchester (2012)

YouTube – AmazoniTunes – Discogs

Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter K (Kaoru) Ishibashi. Born in Seattle, his classical study of the violin and a penchant for a loop pedal gives his sound some similarities to Andrew Bird or Owen Pallet’s. However, the multi-instrumentation makes for a more textured soundscape than those artists. The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that I don’t know much about Ishibashi; in fact, it was the title of this track ‘Manchester’ that initially drew me. I look forward to hearing more from this one-man band, first stop – his debut album 151a that was released earlier this year. Have a good weekend.
