Burial – Ashtray Wasp (2012)

Dubstep alert! But this is the good stuff. London-based William Bevan broke to great acclaim with his first eponymous Burial release in 2006. Part of the Elliot School (of music) stable (Hot Chip, The XX, Four Tet), this south-west Londoner released his Kindred EP in 2012. House loops, synths, crackling beats, a plethora of samples… it is the type of cinematic sound that I envisioned during the heyday of early 1990s dance.
