Yikes. All I really wanted to say about this compilation of The Beta Band’s first three releases was that it felt fresh in 1998. Part electronica, part folk, and a healthy sprinkle of everything else, its sound was regularly referenced by musos and critics alike. A couple of years later, its standout track, ‘Dry the Rain’, featured in the record shop at the heart of ‘High Fidelity’. There was a lot of memorable head nodding in the movie. Be warned – it’s infectious!
