Plastic Bertrand – Ca Plane Pour Moi (1977)

YouTube – Amazon – iTunes

I watched Danny Boyle’s 2010 movie ‘127 Hours’ last week. It features this full-of-fun slice of novelty punk from Belgium. I would say that this song was your archetypal one-hit wonder, but while Plastic Bertrand was the credited artist, the song had actually been sung and produced by its composer Lou Debrijck. So Plastic received the fame, but not royalties. And while that is quite a punk thing to do, Milli Vanilli would covertly revisit this format a decade or so later for all the wrong reasons. And now that’s a band I did not think I would mention on this blog. Have a great weekend!

  1. Nick Elleray says:

My brothers and I loved this song and went nuts trying to work out the words to it. Took a while for the centime to drop.

  2. DJ PJ says:

can add Plastic to my short list of famous Belgians, only others being Tintin, Poirrot, and Eddy Merckx
