David Bowie – A New Career In A New Town (1977)

Continuing the atmospheric stuff this week, ‘A New Career in a New Town’ is an instrumental number off Bowie’s 1977 album Low. Instrumental, yet autobiographical, the track’s title refers to Bowie’s move to Berlin to escape the madness of cocaine, work obsession and marital strife in L.A. One out of three it was to be during a prolific three-year period while holed up with the excessive Iggy Pop. Nevertheless, the sound is optimistic – he was right to be so.
